Chile's central bank held its benchmark interest rate at a record low of 0.50% on 7 December 2020 2020, as widely expected. Policymakers noted that domestic economic activity for October came below expecdtations and fell 1.2% yoy, dragged mainly by construction, tranpsport services. The Committee underscored that inflation declined to 2.7% in November from 3.0% in October, and added that inflationary pressures are expected to remain contained. Policymakers reiterated that they will maintain a strong monetary stimulus for an extended period to ensure that its objectives are achieved.
